Virtual Trellis Routing: how Regular Structures can ease Network Layer operations

چکیده
The main characteristic of Ad Hoc and Sensor networks (the dynamic presence of nodes without any existing infrastructure) implies that the topological information contained in the IP address can no longer reflect the position of a node in the network. Many solutions are being proposed to improve classical routing but they seldom scale in such environments. This paper proposes a new approach to revise the location-identification couple contained in the IP address. We propose the use of a Virtual Regular Structure as a topological location space to address the desired properties such as robustness or multi-paths. Our approach explores an implementation based on trellis graphs in place of trees. We show that the construction of the optimal structure is an NP-Complete problem, but propose a heuristic and evaluate its performance via simulations. We also analyze the robustness of the proposed approach with regards to the transient presence of nodes.

Virtual Trellis Routing - How Regular Structures can ease Network Operations
The mobility characteristic of Ad Hoc and Sensor networks implies that the topological information contained in the traditional IP address can no longer reflect the position of a node in the network. In this paper we propose a new approach to resolve the location-identification coupling contained in the IP address. The approach uses a Virtual Regular Structure (VRS) to describe the addressing s...

Self-Organized Networks are multi-hop networks that do not rely on any infrastructure. Moreover, their topology is supposed to be flat since all nodes are equally in charge of address allocation and routing functions. Their time-changing topology breaks the association between Identification and Location that is present in the IP address. Moreover, mobility can not be handled easily when the ad...

Effective and congestion-aware routing is vital to the performance of network-on-chip. The efficient routing algorithm undoubtedly relies on the considered selection strategy. If the routing function returns a number of more than one permissible output ports, a selection function is exploited to choose the best output port to reduce packets latency. In this paper, we introduce a new selection s...

Internet Traffic has grown exponentially over last few years due to provision of multiple class services through Internet backbone. With the explosive use of Internet, contemporary Internet routers are susceptible to overloads and their services deteriorate drastically and often cause denial of services. In this paper, an analysis is made how forecasting technique, routing algorithm and Genetic...
